How many minutes of undisturbed work do you get done on an average day?

10, 20, maybe 50 minutes? If you think that sounds low, examine your life. Most of us can’t go undisturbed for more than 10 minutes.

We’re all so connected that finding time to focus on yourself and your work becomes impossible. Some of us get hundreds of notifications and messages per day.

You find yourself answering a WhatsApp message here, an email there, talking to a friend, and then talking to a colleague on Slack. Most people’s days consist of replying to notifications

In a way, you’re held captive by others.

So no wonder that many of us ask: “How do I focus better?”

Many people today struggle with maintaining focus amidst constant distractions. In surveys and discussions, a significant portion — 28% — of respondents identified focus and time management as their biggest challenges. Here are two examples of what individuals commonly express:

  • “My top challenge in both life and work is staying focused on my tasks. My mind tends to drift toward trivial things during work hours.”
  • “The hardest part for me is figuring out what I should focus on.”
